About
I’m an architect based in Marblehead, Massachusetts and the President of the Michael McCloskey Design Group specializing in residential architect and interior design.
After graduating with Architectural Degrees from Wentworth Institute of Technology, The Boston Architectural Center and Harvard University, I moved to San Francisco to work as a senior urban designer at Bechtel. In 1985 I began working as a design consultant to architecture, construction and development firms and became involved in a wide variety of projects including hotels, casinos, restaurants, shopping malls, housing developments and resorts internationally. In 1993 I relocated my business to Marblehead and founded my own custom residential design firm, Michael McCloskey Design Group. Since then MDG has completed over 300 buildings with a construction value of $60,000,000.
In 2003 I created McCloskey + Green Construction Company to provide construction and development services to New England based clients. The following year in 2004 I created St. Jane’s Development Corporation in Old San Juan, PR where currently I’m buying and converting historic buildings into luxury condominiums.
I’m a founding member of the Marblehead 20/20 Foundation and Chairman of the Architecture and Urban Design Committee. Marblehead 20/20 is a community think tank created to improve the quality of life in Marblehead through an awareness of good design, healthier environments and better public spaces. I’ve been the principal writer of the Uptown Business District Design Guidelines and the Chairman of the Architectural Design Review Board.
People have labelled me as a thought leader in business development and management for small design firms at Build Boston for over 4 years and I regularly lecture on leadership and managing change at Harvard University. In 2003 I received a certificate of graduation from the Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate at Harvard University. I’m an instructor at the GSD and is a member of the Executive Education Advisory Board.
